Here you can find links to all of the walkthroughs for Charade Maniacs (official Japanese website | Nintendo Switch product page).
⚠️ Warning: read this first ⚠️
Charade Maniacs is a little unique in the way it plays and it’s easy to be exposed to spoilers when using guides, so use them with caution (yes, mine too). The entire premise of the game is “Who can you trust? Who is the traitor?”, which I don’t want to give away in my walkthroughs. Despite that, I would encourage you to choose your own character order, with minimal guidance from me. Let your inner detective guide you! But I do have a few tips 😊
I used expandable sections throughout this page because I want to give you all of the information but hide potential spoilers. Please use these sections wisely, and only click to expand the bits you don’t mind finding out.
Basic information 🎭
The game has a total of 13 endings to acquire. Expand to see the number of endings per character.
🎭 1 ending for Kyoya Akase
🎭 1 ending for Tomose Banjo
🎭 1 ending for Mamoru Chigasaki
🎭 2 endings for Mei Dazai
🎭 1 ending for Keito Ebana
🎭 1 ending for Ryoichi Futami
🎭 1 ending for Souta Gyobu
🎭 4 endings for Takumi Haiji
🎭 1 ending for Mizuki Iochi
At some point in the common route, the group naturally splits up into three teams: a cooking team, a cleaning team, and an information team. Each of these teams contains a locked route. This does not necessarily mean the locked character is a traitor, some routes are simply locked because they contain too many hints of who can and cannot be trusted. A general rule of thumb is, if you want the least amount of spoilers, play all the routes that are available from the start first and save the locked three until last. There is an ideal route order, which you can find in the expandable section below.
Expand to see my recommended play order
Banjo > Akase > Iochi > Futami > Ebana > Chigasaki > Gyobu > Dazai > Haiji
On the other hand, if you don’t care about spoilers and want to get to a specific route, you can unlock each locked route by completing one of the two available routes per team. For example, to unlock the locked character in the cleaning team, clear one of the other two cleaning team members’ routes.
Expand to see exactly whose routes to clear to unlock the locked routes.
- Cleaning team: Clear Banjo’s or Futami’s route to unlock Gyobu’s route.
- Information team: Clear Akase’s or Chigasaki’s route to unlock Dazai’s route.
- Cooking team: Clear Ebana’s or Iochi’s route to unlock Haiji’s route.
There is a truth route as well hidden somewhere among the nine routes. I highly recommend you don’t play this until you’ve played each character’s route. I will clearly indicate in my guide when you hit the truth route, and repeat my recommendation. Honestly, I’m not 100% sure if you can even play the truth route until you’ve done everything else, because I played it last by somehow guessing my way through the order. As always, it’s up to you what you do, but don’t say I didn’t warn you |・ω・)
Lastly, a note on the flowchart 🍃
Those of you who despise flowcharts will be pleased to hear that the flowchart isn’t really something you need to worry about in this game. If you follow my walkthroughs, you will play through all of the game’s short episodes. However, you won’t have completed the flowchart as that would require you to pick every possible choice in the game and that’s not necessary to get every ending.
If you’re like me though, and you’d like to complete the flowchart, you’ll have to find all of the options you didn’t select. In almost all cases, you can scroll through the flowchart and find scenarios without a little ♔ emoji (followed by ???? scenarios), and play through those while selecting options you didn’t pick before. I’ve had some rare cases where selecting those scenarios won’t present you with a choice, and you’ll have to go back further in a route to find the things you’ve missed. Bonus points if you can find the hidden loop in the game where you can keep going between two choices 🕵🏻♀️
And finally… onto the routes ✨
Note: these are not listed in the recommended play order, so no spoilers to be seen here. Go and enjoy the mystery (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
